Making your smile whole again with restorative treatments
Our teeth go through a lot during our lifetimes so it’s no surprise that they can become damaged. Whether as a result of natural decay or an accident, we can repair, rebuild and replace any teeth that have become damaged. Crowns completely restore teeth that need a full work-over, fitting over the tooth. Bridges can go a step beyond and repair more extensive damage, including replacing a missing tooth.
Crowns: a second chance for your teeth
Ceramic crowns look and work exactly like natural crowns. They fully restore teeth that have become damaged, making your smile complete again. So the crowns can fit flush in your smile, part of the natural tooth has to be removed to prepare a platform for the crown to fit over. Once the crown is bonded into place, it looks exactly like a natural tooth.
At Carbis Bay Dental Care, we have full use of digital technology in our Smile Design Studio. We can make your crowns as close to the real thing as possible with accurate scanning and chair-side design. These scans are instantly ready to be sent to the lab, shortening the time between having your teeth treated and having your new crowns fitted.
Bridges: filling in the gaps in your smile
Whatever the reason is behind your missing tooth, a bridge can replace it. Dental bridges can be either all ceramic or porcelain bonded to metal. They work by using the teeth on either side of the gap as a support for the new tooth. The replacement tooth is fixed between two crowns which fit over the abutment teeth.
In our Smile Design Studio, we can show you how your new tooth will look in situ using your scans to preview your bridge before it’s made. This virtual software does more than deliver your scans to the dental lab – it helps us to design your smile together.
