Straightening your smile with clear, removable aligners
Invisalign is a revolutionary straightening system that does away with metal wires and brackets. Instead, it uses multiple sets of aligners, worn in a specific order where each set moves the teeth a small amount before being swapped for the next set. As the aligners are removable, there is a lot more freedom and there’s no need to worry about changing your diet.
There are no hidden surprises with Invisalign treatment. In our Smile Design Studio, we use photographs and 3D scans to get an accurate picture of your smile. We then plan each step of the treatment at the chair-side, showing you the progress your teeth will take. You get the chance to see your straight smile before we even start the treatment.
Why choose Invisalign?
1. Comfortable
Everything about Invisalign has been designed with comfort in mind. The accurate and precise impressions promise a secure fit and the careful gum-line trim ensures comfort.
2. Discreet
When choosing to have a cosmetic treatment like orthodontics, it makes sense that it should be aesthetically pleasing. Invisalign appliances are made from a clear plastic that is durable and hardly noticeable when worn.
3. Removable
Because Invisalign is removable, you can eat and drink the same foods you did before. You simply take them out when you eat, clean your teeth and then pop them back on.
4. Minimally invasive
Invisalign is a gradual and gentle treatment. You barely feel anything as it works through applying small amounts of force on the teeth that need to be straightened.
5. Innovative
Invisalign uses cutting edge technology in every step of its creation – from the 3D scanning used to capture accurate impressions of your teeth to the SmartTrack material specially engineered to straighten teeth with maximum comfort.
Your journey to a straight smile
How long your treatment takes depends on how much movement we need to achieve. During your initial consultation, we’ll be able to tell you how long we need to reach the end goal. Treatment can take between 12-18 months.
1. Consultation
We achieve a lot in your first appointment. We spend time in our Smile Design Studio taking pictures and scans to then use our virtual smile technology to view how your straight smile will look.
2. Treatment planning
Everything is planned for you. How long the treatment will take, how many aligners you’ll need and what you need to do before we begin. We’ll need to arrange a dental examination to make sure your teeth and gums are healthy. Invisalign treatment works best on healthy smiles.
3. Crafting your aligners
The scans we take at the practice are sent directly to Align Technologies where your aligners are created in their highly specialised laboratory. The custom-made aligners are sent to us and we arrange for your fitting so we can introduce you to your new aligners.
4. The fitting
We make sure that your first aligner fits perfectly. If we need to make adjustments to the aligners, we can do so at the practice. During your fitting, we’ll talk through each step and how to look after your aligners.
5. Straightening
Equipped now with your aligners and how to use them, you can start your straightening. Each set is worn for a certain period of time to achieve all the movement it can. If you move to the next set, but the fit is too tight, just go back to the one before for a little longer. We’ll check up on your progress and we’re always available if you have any questions.
6. Retaining
When you’re on your last aligner, we will be in touch to arrange your retainers. Teeth have a habit of shifting back out of position after straightening treatment. To combat this, we use retainers. They can either be a fixed wire at the back of your teeth or clear, removable retainers that are worn at night.
Looking after your straight smile
On top of retaining your smile, great oral care at home will be essential to keeping your mouth healthy as well as straight.
